Description

This area of the nervous system is most crucial for coordinated movement and balance, and is intricately involved in spinal stability. There are more nerve cells in the cerebellum than in the entire cerebral cortex! In order for us to walk stable the cerebellum constantly needs to integrate information coming from the visual system, the inner ear, and the spine and joints. In this module we will discuss the neuroanatomical and neurophysiological aspects of this integration  in a clear and concise way. Common dysfunctions of gait and balance as well as dizziness cases will be presented. You will learn how to utilize special testing to recognize functional neurological disturbances of the vestibular system/cerebellum, and offer treatment modalities to address these issues. Testing and re-testing can confirm the desired outcomes of treatment. Find out why we refer to the cerebellum as: the chiropractor’s best friend!
